After 17 years with Tennant Co. in the Floor Coatings Division, Jim and his wife, Cindy, founded Advantage Coating in 1993. With a vision for delivering exceptional flooring solutions and a dedication to customer service, they built the company from the ground up, navigating both challenges and successes over the years.

For three decades, Jim guided Advantage Coating through growth and innovation, creating a trusted name in the industry. At the start of 2023, he retired from day-to-day operations, confidently passing the reins to his son, Ryan Ernst, and long-time employee, Dan Roth.

While stepping back from operations, Jim remains involved as a consultant, offering his expertise and insight to support the team and ensure Advantage Coating continues to thrive.
